Providence Academy takes great honor in recognizing outstanding achievement among our students in all areas of the school. Through hard work and determination, students have the opportunity to excel and be recognized in different areas and departments at the academy. 

Overall Honor Graduate Distinctions:

  • Valedictorian:                           Highest GPA student in graduating class
  • Salutatorian:                             2nd Highest GPA student in graduating class
  • Cum Laude                               3.5 GPA
  • Magna Cum Laude                    3.7 GPA
  • Summa Cum Laude                   3.9 GPA

National Merit Scholarship:

Students are awarded distinction by Providence Academy for being recognized by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. There are three different levels of recognition for students as part of the National Merit Scholarship program:

  • Finalist
  • Semi-finalist
  • Commended

 

Distinction of Achievement in Latin:

Providence students who successfully complete four high school credits of Latin will achieve the “Latin Distinction Award” at graduation. This student will wear a “cord” at graduation, as well as be recognized by the academy.

 

Department Awards:

The top student (highest grade GPA for 9th-12th grade in the subject) for each of the following departments will receive recognition for their achievement at graduation.

 

Math Department:

The Johannes Kepler Award

 

Science Department:

The Galileo Galilei Award

 

The Classics Department:

The George Whitefield Award

The ACSI Distinguished High School Award:

Students selected for this award must meet the following qualifications:

  • Top 10% of junior or senior class for each category (Academics, Leadership, Fine Arts, Athletics, Christian Service
  • Must have a minimum of two teacher recommendations (for any or all categories marked)
  • Must have the approval of the administration (for any or all categories marked)
  • Student must be either a junior or senior
  • Student must have a clear Christian service and Christian testimony (Christian Service category)
  • Must be actively involved in community service or ministry related activities (Leadership and Christian Service categories)
  • Must be actively participating in school team/individual sports and/or intramurals (Athletics category)
  • Must be actively participating in school activities such as band, drama, music, art, etc. (Fine Arts category)
