Financial Aid

E-mail Print

Financial aid allows Providence Academy to provide qualified students an opportunity to receive a Christian college-preparatory education that would not otherwise have access to an independent school education because of financial constraints. This assistance makes Providence more accessible and affordable, thus creating a more diverse school community.

Providence Academy financial aid is need-based. It is our belief the prime financial responsibility for a child's education rests with the parents to the full extent that they are able. Grants of assistance are based on a family's ability to meet educational expenses. Scholarships are not intended to cover 100% of the cost of attendance at Providence Academy. All families are expected to contribute to the cost of their student's education. Our financial aid scholarship program assists families with students in all grades.

What types of financial aid does Providence Academy offer?

Need-Based Scholarship – This scholarship is an award from Providence Academy and is not required to be repaid. The majority of financial support that makes an education at Providence more affordable for qualifying families is provided through this scholarship. The scholarships are intended to reduce the financial burden associated with the cost of tuition.

How is tuition assistance determined?

Providence Academy uses FACTS, a third-party financial aid assessment company to help us determine a family's contribution to educational expenses. Parents complete an on-line financial aid application. The Financial Aid Review Committee will review the recommendation from FACTS, and a final scholarship award amount will be determined and provided to the family.

Is financial aid an annual award?

A scholarship is awarded for one academic year. The family must re-apply for scholarships each year. All tuition and fees owed by families must be current to be considered for the upcoming year’s tuition assistance.

How do I begin the process?

  • Apply for Admission to PCCA.
  • Obtain a FACTS® Financial Aid Form from the PCCA Office of Admissions.
  • Submit the FACTS® Financial Aid Form directly to FACTS® for consideration.

The PCCA Financial Aid Committee will receive a recommended financial aid award amount from FACTS®.

Competition for financial aid is significant. Limited funds may prevent the Financial Aid Committee from awarding assistance to all qualified deserving applicants. Therefore, students to whom financial aid is awarded are expected to accept or decline the award immediately upon receipt of the notification letter from PCCA. In the event the student fails to comply with this and other reasonable requirements, the Financial Aid Committee reserves the right to award the aid to an alternate applicant.

Contact the Providence Academy Admissions Department to obtain timelines and necessary paperwork to begin the process.

What is considered by the school when awarding financial aid?

  • The family must demonstrate a financial need to receive a scholarship that is not obtainable by other means.

  • The student must exhibit exemplary citizenship and a positive classroom attitude reflected by above average grades.

  • The parents display a Christ-like attitude towards the academy, faculty, and other families in the school.

  • The student must be actively involved in the life of the Providence community outside of the classroom.

I am divorced or no longer living with my child's other parent. Will Providence Academy still expect both parents to be a part of the application for tuition assistance?

Yes. We ask both parents to complete a financial statement to provide a true picture of all available resources. Circumstances differ widely among separated or divorced parents and urge you to contact the Admissions department if there is difficulty in providing the requested information.

I may remarry or establish a permanent relationship with another adult. Will that person's financial circumstances be considered in the tuition assistance allocation for my child? Yes. The addition of another adult into a household generally changes a family's financial picture to a considerable extent. The Parents' Financial Statement must be completed together, providing information pertinent to the new family unit and appropriate tax documentation.

Tuition Assistance Award Recalculation

If a family is awarded tuition assistance based on multiple siblings attending Providence Academy or other tuition charging institutions and one or more of the siblings decides to enroll elsewhere; the family contribution of financial support must be recalculated based on these changed circumstances. If the Financial Aid Review Committee becomes aware of information that suggests that the family’s ability to contribute to educational costs may be at a different level than previously determined (including gifts, inheritances, etc.), then the award will be re-evaluated. This re-evaluation may occur at any time throughout the year, before or after the granting of an award. Should it be determined, at any time, that a family or applicant knowingly did not disclose significant income or assets, and that this failure to disclose resulted in a larger award of tuition assistance, then the award and the enrollment will be reviewed and decisions re-evaluated.

Confidentiality Statement

Providence Academy will treat as confidential all financial information provided by families. Only the Financial Aid Review Committee will review this information. The identity of all students receiving tuition assistance will be held in strict confidence.
